Description
"Euhax" is the Latin translation of "Bingo".
In the 1530s Italy there was a game known as "Il Giuoco del Lotto d'Italia", a lottery-style game and early form of Bingo. By 1778, the game reached France. It reached Germany in 1880, primarily used for education, and North America in 1929, known as "Beano". (This because beans were used as markers on the cards.) Soon a salesman by the name of Edwin S. Lowe popularized the game after renaming it "Bingo".
In 1930, Lowe turned to Columbia University Mathematics professor Carl Leffler to increase the number of card combinations for the game to 6,000. This time-consuming task supposedly drove Leffler mad.
